As the year's growing season slows down and I reflect on the garden's performance, I try to recall the merits of new as well as older plants. New weather trends and the ever-evolving forest canopy in Big Canoe impact growing conditions. The 28-degree temperatures on April 2 and the more than abundant summer rains stressed some older plants’ performances.
