Oct. 21 was “Purple Thursday” which is a national day of action each October during Domestic Violence Awareness month. It was an opportunity to raise awareness about domestic violence and provide an easy way for people to show their commitment to promoting healthy relationships.

Dawson County employees were encouraged to participate in the purple wardrobe choice.

“We were proud to participate in Purple Thursday for domestic violence awareness,” Dawson County Commissioner Nicole Stewart said of the decision to wear purple. “We felt it was a great way to raise awareness and show our support to domestic violence survivors. Hopefully, it will start conversations and help encourage anyone who needs to take the first step to break free from abuse.”
