The Bear Society is having a party this Friday night, Sept.17 on the Veranda.  The party, running from 7-10 p.m., will feature music by Big Canoe favorite Bill Pound.

“I’ve been playing in Big Canoe for 20 years,” Pound told Smoke Signals in a Tuesday afternoon phone interview. “Tell my friends, I’m looking forward to seeing them on Friday.” Many Big Canoers know Pound as a frequent performer in Big Canoe’s popular Acoustic Jam.

Pound, who hails from Macon, is well-known in the Atlanta area music scene. He plays electric and acoustic guitar, flute, harmonicas and to top it all off—he sings. Asked to describe his music, Pound said, “I play cover and original songs—really I try to perform a variety of music, especially ‘danceable’ songs.” Asked if he takes requests, he replied, “Sure—I’ll play ‘em if I know ‘em. “
